Minor Threat - Complete Discography
To this day Minor Threat is one of my favorite punk bands and one that I think played a crucial role in the original punk music scene of the 1970's and 1980's. The thing that Minor Threat is best known for besides their fast and angry sounds is their "straight edge" lyrics. The term straight edge comes from a song of the same name by Minor Threat which describes the band's frustration mainly with drugs and alcohol and how the world especially young people are obsessed with these things. The thing that to me makes Minor Threat unique is that while certain artists preach one thing and practice a whole other thing Minor Threat and especially their vocalist Ian MacKaye really practiced what he preached. Ian would even often times refuse to play shows were people of all ages were not allowed in because of alcohol being served.
This is one of those bands that much like The Clash and others that I have posted on the blog I not only enjoy their music but also agree with their message. If you like any form of rock or punk rock and have never heard of these guys than I strongly recommend you give them a listen.

This is a good site, with some interesting albums, and I thank you for that. I came here to get the Clash's Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg, a bootleg, and it is much appreciated that you have it available here. However, I again need to point out that posting the entire Minor Threat discography is highly unlikely get someone "to become interested in buying original material which will support the actual artists and musicians." What is there left to buy? If you're serious about encouraging people while protecting artists' rights, a few mp3s should do the trick.
ReplyDeleteInteresting point and I will just say that "the entire Minor Threat discography" is one album hence why the album is called Minor Threat Complete Discography as they were a band that were only around for a very short time. So you are right there wouldn't be anything left to buy because there isn't anymore Minor Threat material out there but there is plenty of stuff by Ian MacKaye and some of the other guys who were members of Minor Threat and surely any person who likes Minor Threat might also enjoy.
DeleteNotice that 99% of the music I post is by artists who are for the most part unknown outside of their home country or if not music by artists who I know do not have a problem with file sharing like The Clash or Minor Threat (Ian MacKaye). Also notice that I try to only post bootlegs or hard to find material and unless I receive a request to do otherwise I avoid making multiple posts of the same artist or band.
If an artist or an individual has a problem with something I post they are free to message me about it however it is extremely annoying when someone just decides to start reporting links from my blog and now instead of sharing new material I have to go back and try to recover material I had already posted and shared.

DeleteRat Patrol from Fort Bragg is more than just a "few MP3s" sir...
DeleteAnd just like Lalo pointed out Minor Threat only released one official album and Ian MacKaye wouldn't care about someone downloading it online.... Not to mention that if someone is truly a fan of an artist they will still contribute by buying band merchandise in other form such as shirts, hard copies, etc...
And let's not forget that Joe Strummer was extremely passionate about sharing rare or overlooked music himself, even hosting his own radio shows to broadcast from. He would have approved of this site...
