Nigeria Special (3) Sir Victor Uwaifo - Guitar Boy Superstar

Victor Uwaifo is in my opinion the best guitarist to come out of the Nigerian music scene and could also rival any of the more well known guitarists of the Western World. Guitar Boy Superstar compiles some of his greatest hits though ironically the song Guitar Boy which is one of my favorites was left off you can find it on Youtube though.
If you play electric guitar or are a fan of any type of music that revolves around this instrument I highly recommend this album! A personal favorite on here is West African Safari which almost does make you feel like you're in a Range Rover going through the West African desert.

Woody Guthrie - Asch Recordings Vol 1-4

Woody Guthrie is arguably one of the most important folk musicians to come out of the US. Woody Guthrie is famous for his often humor filled songs but also for his highly politically and socially influenced songs where he made comments about things like the Great Depression, mistreatment of workers in the US, and rise of fascism in Europe. At a time when the US was filled with racism and paranoia Woody was one of the few who was not afraid to openly support rights for African Americans and for immigrants. If you like any sort of folk music from the US or are interested in listening to the artist that influenced other great musicians like Joe Strummer and Bob Dylan then I highly recommend you give Woody Guthrie a listen.

Andres Landero - Con Ritmo Tambores y Velas

All the way from Colombia this is Andres Landero "El rey de la cumbia". Cumbia is a style of music which originated in Colombia and can now be heard throughout most of Latin America. Cumbia has its origins when the slave trade brought people from West Africa to the areas of what is now Colombia and Panama and thus their music styles mixed with those of the Spanish and the people of the new world. I really recommend this to anyone who likes any sort of Latin or tropical music as this is the type of music that will make you want to get up and dance.

The Standells - The Hot Ones

The Standells are a garage rock band from 1960's California, the first Standells song I ever heard was the cover of Good Guys Don't Wear White done by punk band Minor Threat. The Standells own style is very much almost like a mix of 60's rock and roll with what would later become known as punk rock in the 1970's. They were known by some people as "The Beatles of North America". The album that I am sharing here is one that compiles somewhat rare Standells covers of songs done by other artists such as The Beatles, The Monkees, Sam The Sham and The Pharaohs, etc. and is definitely worth downloading and giving a listen to.
